The Start of A1
I got into the business because a friend of mine started working for a garage door repair company,, and I found the industry very interesting and thought that I could deliver better service with a more personal touch, better customer experience, and a better managed highly trained team. I actually got started in the garage door industry painting garage doors for several large residential companies(I could paint 10 doors a day). I was pre-dental but decided to get a bachelor's degree in business after interning with my local dentist, then I decided to get my master's in business/marketing from U of A while running A1 Garage Door Services. I discovered a passion for marketing and try to stay on the cutting edge. I am an avid reader and am constantly trying to learn from others (currently up to over 700 books on audible).
The Difference of A1
Our constant need to improve. We are always asking how we can do things smarter, better and more efficiently. Lately, we have been working on lean concepts and try to make small two second changes to improve the business. I am pretty sure there are not too many garage door companies or other home service companies that are laser-focused on these improvements. Quick example: I realized that putting hand dryers in our bathroom would greatly reduce the expenditure on paper towels and provide a much greener alternative. These micro changes have a huge impact when putting many together and in the long term of things can save hundreds of thousands of dollars. We strive to save on waste, save energy, and create creative solutions for improvements.
